beginner art classes: elevate drawing and painting skills

In this level, students take their drawing skills to the next level by starting to introduce real life observation techniques. They play with colour and pay attention to composition, while enjoying a wide range of mediums: acrylic paints, oil pastels, ink, charcoal pencils, soft pastels, watercolours, mixed media. Here they continue to pay attention to the 7 elements of art and begin to describe how the elements are used by famous artists. Art history is brought in as they listen to stories and watch movies about 19th and 20th century fine art masters like Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, and others. As a result, they generate and develop visual ideas, use their imagination and observation, and confidently experiment with art tools. By the end of this course the goal is to draw with more confidence, paint properly using a set of good techniques, and apply their knowledge of elements of art to create works that tell stories and express feelings.
