visual art classes: enhanced skill development
In this intermediate visual art classes students are encouraged to continue experimenting with art. They are taught to select an interesting subject matter and expand their understanding of good composition, while still focusing on proper use of art materials (mediums) such as acrylic paints, pastels, ink, charcoal pencils, and watercolours, and 3D materials. They confidently employ elements of art and principles of design in their work and make meaningful connections between classroom and the world around them. Art history is an integral part of this course and it brings new perspectives on how to express ideas using the language of art. We use classroom multimedia to showcase modern masters like Henri Matisse, Juan Miro, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, and others. The goal here is to focus on generating original ideas and use own creativity and imagination as they confidently use a mix of materials. Our programs are based on Ontario Academic Curriculum.
