drawing classes: intro to “The 7 Elements of Art”
In this level, students build a real “foundation”. Kids are introduced to drawing, colour theory, composition, and try a variety of mediums such as acrylic paints, soft pastels, color pencils, oil pastels, charcoal pencils, ink pens, and watercolours. In foundations drawing classes children as young as 4 years old learn fundamentals of drawing and subsequently painting, engage in a variety of art activities, and are introduced to a wide range of art tools, materials and techniques. Students learn about the 7 elements of art and use their imagination while experimenting with different art materials. The goal here is that they use art materials with confidence and by the end of year are able to apply their knowledge of elements of art to create works that tell stories and express thoughts and feelings.
